Finding a supportive and safe space when we are feeling vulnerable can be helpful. We can allow ourselves to feel contained and held as we start to put language to our thoughts, feelings, beliefs, or dilemmas that bring us to therapy. Making sense of our experiences and negotiating our position and relationship to our difficulties can help us look at them from a more understanding, tolerant, and thoughtful perspective. This in turn can helps us take stock of our difficulties and address them as best as we can with the resources we have at a given time.
